Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Drones Of War
I have An Idea
I have an
idea for a near future skirmish game.
It would
revolve around small forces so lowish figure count depending on the level of
each force.
To expand
upon that, you would have four levels of forces, from low-tech, mid-tech, high-tech,
and advanced-tech.
Depending
on the tech levels you will have a large infantry force for low-tech faction,
and for advanced tech you have just a handful of professional soldiers with all
the latest technology including multiple drone attachments to each individual
soldier.
The low-tech
faction can include swarm type opposition as in Starship Troopers. But rather
than the force opposing them being massed infantry it would be just a handful
of soldiers with advanced drones, comms, and off table support etc.
An advanced
tech force might look something like this then:
Leader – 1 leader,
armed with pistol or SMG, sensor/recon drone x1, comms drone x1, HEL drone x1.
Signaler – 1
signaler, armed with SMG, as per leader.
Grenadier –
1 grenadier armed with assault rifle, grenade launcher drone x1, assault rifle drone x1, HEL drone x1.
Designated Marksman –
1 Marksman armed with SMG, sniper drone x2, HEL drone x1.
Rifle Team – x3 Riflemen armed with assault rifle, assault rifle drone x2 each, HEL drone x1 each.
Gunner – 1 Gunner,
armed with SMG, Autocannon drone x2, HEL drone.
EW
Specialist Team – EW Specialist x2 armed with SMG, jammer drone x2, recon drone x1, comms
drone x1, HEL drone x2.
A low-tech
human force might look like a third world/fundamentalist force with limited
drones and technology but there will be 3 or 4 times more troops.
A mid-tech
force would be a developing nation force.
High-tech
would be employing more advanced weapons and drones alongside conventionally
sized forces.
The advanced
tech forces would deploy small forces and a lot of advanced technology on and
off board.
Do you
think that sounds like something worth developing? Would it be a fun as well as
engaging and tactical game?
