T’was The Crash Before Christmas

A Christmas Scenario

A Bowling 8888 Atmospheric Light Freighter aircraft took off from Nakatomi Airport. It was loaded with care packages for an orphanage approx. 500 miles away in a town called Willis.

The orphanage was set up for orphans of the Brutius war that had only recently come to an end.

Unfortunately, as the aircraft was a Bowling, with a checkered service history that had seen multiple crashes due to inherent design flaws, it probably wasn’t the best aircraft to use for delivery of such precious and desperately needed cargo to the orphanage. But needs must.

The aircraft, predictably crashed about 100 miles from the orphanage.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to save Christmas for the orphans of the Brutius War Willis Orphanage.

You must get to the crash site, secure the perimeter, salvage as much of the care packages as possible, and load them up on the convoy vehicles and escort them safely to the orphanage.

So, The Potter Brothers need 4-5 assorted vehicles, plus 2–4-armed crew per vehicle, plus crew served weapons mounted on vehicles.

To be played on a 4” x 4” table.

Crash site is at the centre of the board. Approx. 6” dia. circle crash site. Strewn debris. Place up to 20 crates (care packages) amongst the debris. Each vehicle can carry 5 crates (care packages).

Potter Brothers convoy enters from any corner of the board.

Scavengers have already seen the crash and headed to the crash site.

They see the convoy and get ready to defend.

Roll 5 x D10. That is how many scavengers are already at the crash site. Deploy them around the crash site facing the direction of the convoy.

Fight through them to the crash site and secure the crash site.

Each turn roll 3 x D10’s to determine number of scavengers turning up.

Scavengers may turn up on/in vehicles of their own – think Madmax.

Roll a dice to determine where they deploy on to the table from – number each long edge 1 for the left hand side of the edge and 2 for the right hand side of the edge, which gives you 1 to 8 on a D10, then 9 is deploy with 6 inches of crash site and 10 is deploy within 3 inches of crash site. Roll for each individual to deploy.

Each figure can carry one crate to load on a vehicle. Picking up and unloading is free, but all movement comes out of their normal movement rate i.e. moving to a crate, then moving back to a vehicle to put the crate on the vehicle all comes out of movement.

Load up as many crates as possible before leaving the area in convoy. If more than one vehicle is lost, the game is lost.

Each vehicle needs to be fully loaded with 5 crates before leaving. All vehicles must leave together.

Convoy must exit via one of the two corners from the side it entered.

You must have enough figures left for each vehicle to be driven away by 1 driver per vehicle.
