A Walking Dead Inspired Sci-Fi Scenario

I am currently re-watching The Walking Dead on Amazon Prim UK, and a thought occurred to me. Theres a few gameable scenarios in this.

The main one that occurred to me was a base that comes under attack whilst most of the people are out on scavenging/smuggling/thieving missions.

The base could be a scavenger/smuggler/general outlaw and ne’er do well base.

The attackers could be local law enforcement, colonial/frontier militia, or even, a special forces strike.

The base is currently only guarded by 4 people. There are 3 teams of 4 people out on missions currently with vehicles like technicals and/or motorbikes etc.

The attackers can be up three teams of 4-6 people with vehicles, whether they are aerial or land.

Place a base type of structure or grouping of building in the middle of a 4’ x 4’ board. Maybe one or two heavy weapons positions are hard mounted to a wall or top of a building.

The attacker can choose the starting positions for their teams, but they must start at least two movements away from the base.

Give the attackers the option to use stealth and for every grunt, each time they move toward the base, roll a dice for detection, a score of 1 means they are detected so long as a defender is in a higher elevation and the attacker is not in dead ground from that defenders position i.e. there is a clear line of sight to the nearest elevated defender.

If using special forces use smaller teams, use three teams of 4 with a better chance of stealth i.e. only roll 1 dice for a whole team each time they move.

The defender’s teams that are away from the base can come from turn 2 or equivalent. Roll a dice for each team.

For a team to come on in turn 2, roll a 1 or 2.

For a team to come on turn 3, roll a 1, 2, or 3.

For a team to come on turn 4, roll a 1, 2, 3, or 4.

And so on.

Each time can roll once each turn to come on from turn 2 onwards.

A team can come on the edge of the board from anywhere except within 12” of any enemy teams i.e. they must 13” from the nearest enemy base.

The attackers can call for back up.

In the movement phase, any attacking team can call for backup. However, you can only do this once per turn. So, you can’t make 1 call per team per turn.

Similarly, you can only call for backup three times in one game.

The backup could be a vehicle like a light tank or armoured car, or it could be another team in a light vehicle, an aerial drone, or a land drone etc.

You could create a table of potential backup teams and dice for which one comes on.

The backup teams come on from the nearest table edge to an existing on-table friendly team but not within 13" of any enemy teams.
